Australian Visa Program Offers Low-Skilled Workers Permanent Residency

0

In the past, a pathway to permanent residency in Australia was only available to workers the Australian government thought were most desirable, mainly being skilled occupations needed to fill employment gaps.

There are now new arrangements in place, designated area migration agreements (DAMAs). This route lowers the requirements and opens the door for migrants to have permanent residency who don’t have good English fluency, and have lower skills and pay.

The only stipulation to the new guidelines is that immigrants must agree to live in the region for at least three years before applying for permanent residency in Australia.
David Coleman, minister for immigration, said the Australian government is improving the immigration program to best match the needs of specific regions.
